Mr. Akapol stated that this roadshow is a collaboration of TCEB, the Immigration Bureau, the Thai Customs Department and Thai Airways. The event will be held in the Japanese cities of Tokyo and Osaka during 7-9 February. The activity aims to promote Thailand as a destination for conferences, seminars, exhibitions and MICE for the Japanese market, which is considered a potential market for MICE.
Among the Asian market, the Japanese account for 10.3% of MICE activities in Thailand, or around 50,617 people, which generated THB3.61 billion for Thailand. However, the recent flood has impacted on the confidence of this market; thus, confidence must be restored. TCEB aims to push the Japanese MICE market to grow by 15% or a total number of 58,728 people, and the revenue up to THB3.73 billion.
More than 200 Japanese MICE travel agencies are participating in this event. Meanwhile, four Thai MICE cities, including Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai, will also participate to promote and indicate their readiness to receive MICE tourists to their own towns.
