belitung island, Indonesia>, Nov 29, 2009
Belitung is a great place for island hopping and a beach bumming session, but nothing much else, so it’s just perfect for a long weekend holidays.
1. Flight: there are 2 airplanes serves Jakarta - Tanjung Pandan route. Sriwijaya (better schedule as it fly in the morning there and come back in the evening) and Batavia (fly there and back around mid day)
The average cost for round trip ticket should be around 600/700k Rp (60 USD) but when I bought it, was slightly expensive 1.1M Rp (110 USD) round trip.
2. Transportation: there is no public transport there so it will be better if you come in a right number of people in a group to share a rented vehicle. The cost for 1 day rent is ~400k Rp (40 USD), including the driver but excluding petrol (we spent ~250k Rp / 25 USD) for the petrol for 2 full days.
The car rental I used is Pak Acit: +6281367706544. The car condition is good, the driver name is Cecep, he’s friendly and knows the tourist attractions quite well.
p.s.: he also pick us up and drop us again in the airport
3. Accomodation: there are several choices of accomodations depends on teh place you want to stay. Some ppl stayed in the capital - Tanjung Pandan, but I chose to stay in Tanjung Kelayang beach and I didn’t regret the decision as it’s easier to pick a boat from here and we got to have our private beach in the hotel compound. The other hotels available are: Lor In (the most expensive hotel in the island - located nearby to Tanjung Kelayang Hotel, but on the other side of teh road so it doesn’t have the beach section.
Warning: Tanjung Kelayang hotel is not so clean, becareful of catching some bedbugs bites.
2. Food: 2 lunches we had them in 2 different restaurants in Tanjung Tinggi beaches. There are several options to choose from. The food - mainly fresh seafood is superb and the price is cheap!
3. Activities…aren’t my blabberings in my blogs more than enough to describe what you can do there?:)
Note: spare enough time for island hopping - won’t regret it!
